If you enjoy sewing your own clothes and wish you had friends that shared your passion, then looking to online communities are a great way to connect, find resources and have fun!
It doesn’t matter if you are new to sewing, or a long time pro, there are thousands of people out there who share your passion!
Each of these groups have a different approach to their communities, and sometimes even a specific genre. Like sewing for a curvy figure, or for people who require clothing for a taller figure, or anyone who has difficulty finding ideal off the rack clothing.
There are also tons of people on Etsy and other handmade sell sites that share your passion you can connect with too!
There are even speciality groups for specific interests, like Cosplay, with websites like Orgsync.com.
Never feel shy about emailing and asking a question, or passing along a compliment when you like a piece! Most crafters enjoy talking about their work and connecting with like minded people, just like you! You never know when you might strike up a great friendship!
Don’t feel like joining another online community, or maybe you just want some face to face sewing interaction? Take your search a little more “old school!”
Check in your local newspaper for groups, or your area Craigslist. Some area Churches hold sewing circles to benefit various charities too.
If you can’t find the right fit for you, or if you live in a more rural area where there aren’t a lot of clubs, consider starting your own! You might be surprised how many people just like you are out there searching for their tribe!
